This time it will be a biweekly event, as 5 Rhythms will also be brought back (starting November) to the schedule as Deva and Jade the facilitators will alternate the Saturdays to offer these unique experiences.
Special warm up will take place the 14th of Oct led by the experienced facilitator, Deva, the Ecstatica Dance Journey is a 90-minute immersive dance experience held in a facilitated space. In this unique journey, choreography and sequences take a back seat, replaced by a focus on free, uninhibited movement. Participants are encouraged to let go of preconceived notions of right and wrong, allowing them to flow with the beat in their own authentic way.
For newcomers, there may be a brief moment of self-consciousness. Thoughts like "What if I do it wrong? What if everyone stares at me?" might surface. However, it quickly becomes apparent that each participant is immersed in their own rhythmic exploration. The Ecstatica Dance Journey is a form of movement meditation, inviting individuals to be in constant motion, connecting with themselves and, if they choose, with others in the room, all while respecting one another's space.
Deva, a seasoned facilitator, has been conducting Ecstatica events in Bali since 2017. Initially a once-a-month gathering, the demand for these transformative sessions led to a regular offering. It has now become one of the most anticipated events in Canggu. Deva's approach to dance is about surrendering control to fully experience the energy within and the physicality of our bodies. Through this practice, participants break free from habitual movement patterns, creating new neural pathways and opening up their entire energy body.
The event begins with gentle music, coaxing participants to connect with their bodies. Deva then guides them into movement, allowing a warm-up period of up to 15 minutes before calling everyone into a circle. In this circle, Deva sets the intention and theme for the evening, emphasizing the importance of non-verbal communication - participants converse solely through their movements.
The journey continues with the "awakening the dancer" phase, where participants are guided to connect with each part of their body, from toes to crown. This intimate exploration builds a deeper connection with one's own joints, clearing stagnant energy.
Next comes the Kundalini shake OR Body Parts (awakening the dancer)
There is encouragement to be aware of the breath, sometimes a breath activation practice is used - Breath of Fire
Followed by a sweet surrender to a channelled song & sound healing a grounding practice that releases suppressed emotions and tensions. Through this shaking movement, participants give and receive energy from the earth, fostering a profound sense of connection. Conscious breathing and vocal expression are encouraged, allowing the energy to flow freely.
In the final phase, participants are invited to let go completely. They express themselves through gentle or vigorous movements, jumping, or even emulating animal-like motions. As the music mellows, they gradually ease into stillness, lying down before regrouping in a circle. Here, participants release any sounds or savour a moment of silent meditation with soothing music in the background.
Born in Scotland, Deva's journey into Ecstatica Dance began with a profound meditation experience, where she felt her consciousness expand through movement. Her practice of yoga, initiated at the age of 19, became a lifeline, rescuing her from an abusive past. Having taught yoga for a decade in Cape Town, South Africa, Deva now imparts her wisdom to those seeking transformation in Bali.
Deva invites all to join her for the Ecstatic Dance Journey at Ubuntu Bali. This event extends benefits beyond physical fitness, offering stress relief, toxin release, and a profound sense of freedom. It provides a space where connections are forged without the need for words, allowing hearts to express themselves freely.
For those ready to embark on a transformative journey of their own, Ubuntu Bali will be hosting the Ecstatica Dance Facilitator Training early in 2024. This training offers the opportunity to learn the art of facilitating these magical journeys, enabling others to experience the transformative power of Ecstatica Dance. Join Deva and Ubuntu Bali in this immersive exploration of conscious movement, and discover a path to a more liberated and authentic self.
