Mastering Arm Balances: A Transformative Yoga Workshop at Ubuntu Bali

Are you ready to elevate your yoga practice and challenge yourself in new, exciting ways? Join us at Ubuntu Bali on Friday, the 23rd august, from 2 PM to 5 PM for an extraordinary arm balance workshop led by the accomplished yoga teacher, Catie.

Whether you're a beginner establishing a regular practice or an experienced teacher, this workshop is designed to meet you where you are and help you grow. The three-hour session is divided into three parts, each focusing on different aspects of arm balances and inversions.

Part 1: Handstands and Inversions

The first segment of the workshop will concentrate on the "straight" form of handstands and inversions. Catie will guide participants through:

- Getting comfortable being inverted

- Building strength, mobility, and conditioning

- Understanding and experiencing balance through physical, technical, and mental aspects

- Guidance on breathing preparation

- Refining various shapes

- Exploring different entries and safe, efficient exits, including jumps and presses

- Working towards advanced variations like one-arm handstands, side bends, and movement in handstands

Part 2: Healthy Spine and Backbends

The second part of the workshop will focus on maintaining a healthy spine and developing enjoyable backbends. Participants will explore and practice frontal spinal extension, creating a strong foundation for safe and satisfying backbending postures.

Part 3: Combining Inversions and Backbends

The final segment will bring together the skills learned in the first two parts. Attendees will delve into backbends in inversions, scorpion poses, drop backs, and related arm balances. This integration of techniques will deepen your understanding and expand your practice in exciting new ways.

About the Teacher: Catie

Catie's journey to becoming a yoga coach is as inspiring as it is unique. In 2008, she transitioned from her career as a hedge fund lawyer to make yoga her primary focus. Her approach to teaching is rooted in exploration and pushing the boundaries of what seems possible.

With a background that includes qualifications as a Yoga Therapist, studies in Iyengar yoga, Anatomy Trains, Rolfing, anatomy and physiology, the art of hand balancing, psychology, contortion, pranayama, and nutrition, Catie brings a wealth of knowledge to her classes. Her diverse experiences, including recent forays into singing, surfing, and diving, continually inform and enrich her teaching style.

Catie's philosophy centres on creating spaces where everyone can thrive and develop.

In her own words, Catie shares, "Yoga was a lucid part of my childhood experience. The asanas came much later. I've loved to explore my weaker areas, and handstands plus backbends were definitely that! These areas are now totally different than before. I love that! We can change!"

Catie's dedication to her craft is evident in her daily practice, which often involves one-arm handstand journeys. She also explores the connection between pranayama and inversions, and how character strengths inform one's practice. Her approach is infused with humour, love, and honesty, creating a supportive and engaging learning environment.

Don't miss this opportunity to learn from an teacher who embodies the transformative power of yoga. Join Catie at Ubuntu Bali for an afternoon of exploration, challenge, and growth.
